About or Organisation
Vision
Supreme Sikh Council (UK) works for a society in which Sikhs may contribute in all fields and at all levels, whilst being free to practice their faith and maintain their identity. This concept is known by Sikhs as Sarbat Da Bhalla (‘may everyone prosper’).

Community Cases
In addition to its strategic work, Supreme Sikh Council (UK) consults about key issues at a grassroots level, through our growing inclusive membership. Casework has been based on a growing trust where individuals or organisations make referrals, knowing every effort will be made to assist, particularly in difficulties around Sikh identity.
History
Supreme Sikh Council (UK) has made significant strides to have the international status it has today.
Our organisation has a firmly established profile as the recognised representative body of Sikhs in Britain. This has led to regular contact from various organisations, agencies and the media for comment, advice, and participation in current issues.
Internationally, we have:
- been appointed by Sri Akal Takhat Sahib at Harminder Sahib (The Golden Temple), to lead the investigation of reported UK/European matters, in a historically unprecedented move.
- built links with other Sikh institutes in India, including: Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandakh Committee, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Khalsa College Amritsar, Dam Dami Taksal, Shiromani Akal Dal.
- developed contacts with key institutes and individuals on the Indian Sub-Continent in addressing relevant issues.
- made links and corresponding with other Governments or Governmental bodies in: Austria, Belgium, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kuwait, Uganda, France, Brussels (EU), and Italy to name a few.
Nationally, we have:
- established relations with the senior officers and politicians within Government departments, in influencing change where it matters.
- been referred by name in the House of Lords and the House of Commons, particularly during its lead in campaigns that affect the Sikh Community.
- established regular communications and face-to-face liaisons with Ministers and Civil Servants on a range of issues.
- played a key role in the National Sikh Awareness and History Month Early Day Motion in Parliament.
- built networks with other communities and councils, such as The Board of Deputies of British Jews and CIT (full name).
